Cagdas Yasami Desteklem Dernegi, unforgettable Chairman Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylanwas commemorated with a magnificent ceremony on the 14th anniversary of her death. The 14th Türkan Saylan Science and Art Awards were also presented at the night where memories of Türkan Saylan, who left a permanent mark on society with her work in the fields of education and health, were shared. Dr Buse Cevatemre Yıldırım, known for her contributions to science and original studies, received the 14th Contemporary Life Science Award. The art award was won by actress and writer Zeynep Kaçar with her novel "God and Mammals". Making the opening speech of the ceremony, ÇYDD President Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel said, "Türkan Saylan struggled to keep secular education alive throughout her 74-year life, almost from the time she was a primary school student, until the last moments of her life, believing in the sentence "Every Educated Woman Owes the Atatürk Republic". Tonight is Türkan Saylan night. It wouldn't be enough if we tried to repay her our gratitude not only tonight, but at every moment. "How happy we are to have become Türkan Saylan's companions," she said.

The unforgettable Chairman of Cagdas Yasami Desteklem Dernegi,  Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan was commemorated by her loved ones and Çağdaş Yaşam family on the 15th anniversary of her death on Saturday, May 18. The commemoration ceremony started at Türkan Saylan's grave in Zincirlikuyu and then continued at İş Sanat Cultural Center, İş Kuleleri Levent. The night was attended by ÇYDD President Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel, ÇYDD Board Members, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, CHP Deputy Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Suat Özçağdaş, Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik, Istanbul Bar Association President Av. Filiz Saraç, many people from the world of science, art and education, as well as Türkan Saylan's students and fans, attended. The winners of the 14th Science and Art Awards, held in memory of Türkan Saylan, were also announced at the night.

PROF. DR. AYŞE YÜKSEL: HOW HAPPY WE ARE TO BE TÜRKAN SAYLAN'S COMPANIONS

Türkan Saylan Memorial Night started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr.  Ayşe Yüksel ÇYDD President and Saylan's companion, . Underlining in her speech that they will continue to walk in Saylan's footsteps and work to realize her dreams, Yüksel said, "When we encounter people who carry values ​​such as truthfulness, justice, mercy, goodness, loyalty, kindness, hard work and dedication, we get warmer and happier in our hearts just like we are with you tonight." Each of us has some of these features, but all of them are found in people like our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and our precious Türkan Saylan, thus a miracle occurs. Tonight is Türkan Saylan night. It wouldn't be enough if we tried to repay her our gratitude not only tonight, but at every moment. How happy we are to have become Türkan Saylan's companions. Türkan Saylan during her 74 years of life, almost from the time she was a primary school student, until the last moments of her life, she struggled to keep secular education alive, believing in the sentence "Every Educated Woman Owes the Republic of Ataturk.”

 

 

 

 

 

YÜKSEL: WE KEEP ÇYDD ALIVE WITH WHAT WE LEARNED FROM TÜRKAN SAYLAN

President Yüksel continued her speech by stating that Türkan Saylan fought for secular education until the end of her life and said, "Our teacher Türkan has vowed to develop and keep alive the secular education established by Atatürk throughout her life. Until the last hours of her life, she worked to provide a more modern education to children. Türkan Saylan passed away from this world; She was not only a dermatologist, she loved the color red, flowers like daisies, and roasted onions in food. She lived her life believing that we should share the world with its people, animals and plants and we should be good together. From time to time, she experienced events that she did not deserve, but even in her difficult struggle, she always knew how to be happy, rejoice and love. She always lives among us with what she did, what she taught, and what she entrusted to us. How happy we are that we keep ÇYDD alive together with what we learned from Türkan Saylan. She ended her speech by saying "May her soul rest in peace."

Following President Prof. Dr. Ayşe Yüksel's speech, the program continued with the screening of the documentary titled "Türkan: The Story of a Woman of Science" prepared by journalist and writer Özlem Özdemir. Afterwards, the winners of the 14th Science and Art Awards were announced. With her contributions to science and her original articles, and as a young and contemporary Turkish woman, Dr. Buse Cevatemre Yıldırım was deemed worthy of an award in the field of science, and in the field of art; Zeynep Kaçar, who wrote about women's efforts to find themselves with their body, sexuality and social identity in her work titled "God and Mammals", was entitled to receive the award.

The memorial night ended with the concert titled "The Sun Rises Now from Hope" by Ali - Aysun Kocatepe and Cagdas Yasam Youth Orchestra.
