Özlem Özdemir: This documentary is a present to the 100 th year of the Republic.
Journalist and writer Özlem Özdemir stated that she was very happy to have produced the
documentary film Türkan: The Story of a Scientist Woman for the 100th anniversary of the Republic.
She said, "We screened Türkan: The Story of a Scientist Woman documentary with many viewers
tonight. I am very proud of this accomplishment. I tried to explain what a crusader she was, how
determined she was and how full of life she was. Her intellectual personality was at the forefront.
However, she was also an intellectual woman.
Because I care about the journey of this woman who struggled and it is important that young people
know about this, I wanted to commemorate her with a documentary and show that she will always
be remembered. The film is a present to the 100 th year of the Republic. I thank ÇYDD and President
Ayşe Yüksel profoundly. Together we offered both the Republic and Türkan Saylan a very meaningful
gift. Long live the Republic!’’
