Mercedes-Benz Türk received the “Gender  Equality in the Workplace ” award given by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security every year to improve gender equality  in the workplace.

The criteria observed for the award are work-life balance implementations such as the number of women working in the company, extent of the unionization of female labor, educational opportunities for the workers, special projects for women, company programs that promote gender equality in the workplace, maternity leave, flexible working, home-office opportunity, child care support, equal pay, actions taken for gender equality during promotion and career planning. Mercedes was surveyed for all these criteria and was the owner of the award.

Mercedes-Benz Türk’s  “Every Girl is a Star” scholarship and education project carried out with  Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği  (ÇYDD)  since 2004 encourages girls to start vocational education after secondary school.  Mercedes-Benz Türk company executives get together with these scholarship students from various cities every year for a week. This project was also investigated  during the evaluations for the “Gender Equality in the Workplace” award.

 

“WE ARE WORKING TO CREATE OUR CORPORATE CULTURE BASED ON GENDER EQUALITY”

Mercedes-Benz Türk Human resources Director Betül Çorbacıoğlu received the award from Labor and Social Security Minister Dr. Mehmet Müezzinoğlu during the  Awareness Conference in Ankara on January 26 2017.

Mercedes-Benz Türk Human resources Director Betül Çorbacıoğlu said they were proud to receive this award:

“ This year is our company’s 50th year in Turkey and we are very happy to receive the Gender Equality in the Workplace award.

As Mercedes-Benz Türk we believe in gender equality in all aspects of life and not only in our workplace.  Over the years we focused on providing a safe and peaceful work environment for all our workers, men and women alike and to improve their working life.

In all units of our corporation gender equality is adopted as a corporation culture and we intend to leave this culture to the future generations. We work on increasing the number of our female workers; due to our just wage system and opportunities created for the syndication of our female workers, women prefer to work for Mercedes-Benz Türk. Moreover practices like maternity leave, breast feeding leave and flexible work hours also allow women to have a healthy social life.

On the other hand, we have always tried to touch the lives of girls and women both with our social responsibility projects and volunteer work of our employees. With our “Every Girl is a Star” project which we carry out with Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği  we encourage girls  for education and women to join the work force. As Mercedes-Benz Türk, we will continue our efforts to increase awareness and sensitivity on gender equality both in our corporation structure and in the society.”
