Hiroshima cranes

Association for the Support of  Contemporary Life (CYDD) children completed the "Cranes Flying for Peace" Project. During the month of July, 132 children  folded 2000 origami cranes accompanied by Sadako Sasaki's touching and powerful story, learned about the pain and destruction caused by the atomic bomb; the threat posed on the future of nature and humanity by nuclear bombs and nuclear power plants. They thought about these problems and formed their own thoughts, which they wrote on the wings of paper cranes they folded for Sadako Sasaki.

1000 origami cranes folded by the CYDD "The Sparrow Group" children, which consists of our Avcilar, Bahcesehir, Beylikduzu, Buyukcekmece, Kucukcekmece, Silivri branches and Contemporary Life Ferhat Senatalar Cultural House, were given to CYDD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Çelikel. These 1000 paper cranes were then sent to Japan to be put on the Children’s Peace Monument on the 72nd anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. The other 1000 origami cranes will be put in the Beylikdüzü Japanese Garden by the Municipality of Istanbul Beylikdüzü with a ceremony to be held on August 6th.
