Karşıyaka (Izmir) Municipality Chamber Orchestra KODA (Karşıyaka Belediyesi Oda Orkestrası-KODA) gave a concert for approximately 300 students receiving education support from ÇYDD-Supporting Modern Life Association. The classical music event took place at the Hikmet Şimşek Arts Center.

Conductor Rengim Gökmen lead the orchestra and they played Mozart’s Divertimento, Kaptanzade Ali Rıza Bey’s Denizde Akşam and a tango-Por una Cabeza.  Conductor Gökmen commented on the pieces they performed and on classical music in general which made the concert even more enjoyable for the young audience.

Karşıyaka Mayor Hüseyin Mutlu Akpınar spoke about the collaboration of their orchestra and ÇYDD. He said, “KODA is the first chamber orchestra in Turkey to have been formed by a district municipality with permanently employed musicians. Our orchestra continues to bring art to our community.  With this concert, we are also very happy and proud to have collaborated with ÇYDD that has provided educational support for 110000 Snowdrops in 30 years. We strongly believe that generations that are raised with science, culture and art will be architects of a more modern and stronger Turkey.”
