Mercedes-Benz Türk, as well as being one of the biggest foreign investments in the automotive sector in Turkey is also helping Turkey’s development with its social responsibility projects.

 With their project “Every Girl is a Star” carried in collaboration with ÇYDD, Mercedes-Benz Türk is sponsoring girls who want to have a profession. Its project team is visiting cities to meet the girls they sponsor and recently they were in Kırklareli. They aim to visit every city where they have a girl benefiting from their project.

“Every Girl is a Star” project of Mercedes-Benz Türk, sponsored since 2004, supports girls’ education and aims women to join the workforce and to increase the value they add to the country’s economy.

During the Mercedes-Benz Türk team’s recent visit, they came together with 15 Stars from Kırklareli and had creative drama activities to support the personal development of the girls.

Personal development of the girls is as important as vocational education.

Mercedes-Benz Türk team believes that apart from financial support, team spirit, courage and self-confidence is essential for the girls to become “ Stars”. They visit different towns to meet the girls and encourage them to continue their education and have professions.

 In 2004, Mercedes-Benz Türk started the project with 200 girl students studying in 17 different cities. To this date 4200 students received scholarships for vocational schools and universities in 58 cities with the “Every Girl is a Star” social responsibility project. Today 1200 girls ,200 of whom are university students are receiving scholarships. The company  also supports its girls with training opportunities, language courses and cultural visits within Turkey and has provided jobs to 22 of its graduates. 13 of the girls are working in Aksaray Truck Factory and 9 are working in Hoşdere Bus Factory.

Scope of scholarships has also increased

The scope of the scholarships given has also expanded over the years. In the beginning, scholarships were given only for vocational education in the field of motors, electric/electronics, lathing/leveling, machinery design and computers. Nowadays subsidiary industries, dealers and Mercedes-Benz Türk employees also support the project and only 68\% of scholarships are for vocational highschools.13\% of scholarships are for art and the remaining 21\% is given for health studies and other branches.

 Mercedes hosts Stars in İstanbul.

Every year a group of successful girls from different cities are hosted for one week in İstanbul. During this week girls have a chance to get to know Istanbul, visit museums and the Mercedes facilities in İstanbul.

“Every Girl is a Star”  was awarded “Top” award for  “the best social responsibility project” in 2006 by Platin magazine, “Golden Compass” award  in 2007 by Turkish Public Relations Association(TÜHID) and 2010 Gladiators- social responsibility project of the year award.
