Mercedes-Benz Türk and Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği, hosted girls of the “Every Girl is a Star” Project in İstanbul.

Mercedes-Benz Türk and Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği (ÇYDD)  with  the “Every Girl is a Star” Project, give scholarships to girls studying in various cities.

A group of scholarship students were in İstanbul for a week for the  summer meeting.

Students visited the grave of ÇYDD founder  Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan.

They also visited the Mercedes-Benz Türk Hoşdere Bus Factory and some historical and touristic sites.

Lights of Turkey

A meeting was held  yesterday to give information about the “Every Girl is a Star” program with the participation of Mercedes-Benz Türk A.Ş. CEO Britta Seeger, ÇYDD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Çelikel and the visiting students.

Ms Seeger pointed out that the scholarship program also provides training and job opportunities and said “ we wish to offer available jobs in Mercedes-Benz Türk and  its dealers to Star Girls”

ÇYDD President Prof. Dr. Aysel Çelikel pointed out that “Every Girl is a Star” scholarship is only given to girls  and said “Educating a girl means educating two families. The girls bring a different light to their present and future families. This different light is the light of Turkey’s future.”

Nearly  4000 girls benefited from the program

The Project which commenced in 2004 aims to support hardworking girls with limited resources and who want to have a technical profession  in vocational schools. Up till now scholarships were given to 3 950 students from 56 different cities and 472 of them are university students. At the moment 1200 girls, 200 of them in university, continue to get scholarship.

Hatice Gökdoğan: “I heard about the scholarship from my literature teacher. The ÇYDD members are like family to us. They help us with everything.

Halime Teyin: “I am a student of anaesthesia in Medical Vocational School.My travel expenses were high. I used the scholarship form y travel expenses. The scholarship was a great contribution to my education”.
