There is a serious increase in social violence cases in our country. The noticeable increase in violent incidents, especially in priority public areas such as schools and hospitals, is worrying for our people and our future.

According to the data of the Turkish Medical Association, 90\% of healthcare workers state that they
have been exposed to violence at least once in their lives while performing their duties. According to
the same research, the fact that 6 out of 10 physicians stated that they have encountered violence at
least once in the last year shows the seriousness of the situation.
Unfortunately, social violence is also on the rise in educational institutions. Most recently, on May 7,
2024, a school principal was murdered by a student who shot him 5 times with a gun. The fact that
the student had been planning this act for a long time adds to the gravity of the situation. Another
important aspect of this issue that needs to be emphasized is that the attacker was later naturalized
as a Turkish citizen. The departure from the traditional state policy on the acquisition of Turkish
citizenship, which has been in place since the early years of the Republic, and the continuation of
practices such as granting citizenship through the sale of real estate is extremely wrong and we are
experiencing the consequences of these wrong practices as a society.
The phenomenon of violence; It has affected educational institutions, teachers, hospitals, healthcare
professionals, all public spaces and our society. It should never be the case to remain silent against all
forms of violence, to normalize and accept violence. Violence; It must be absolutely rejected,
regardless of the concepts of place, time and person.
The fight against social violence must start from the fight against factors that feed violence such as
the language of anger, lack of empathy and egoism. The solution and cure for social violence is to
ensure that secular, democratic, mixed and scientific education is provided to all our children and
youth with equal opportunities through qualified and public policies.
